PDC World Darts Championship

The William Hill PDC World Darts Championship starts today at Alexandra Palace in London with the final on Sunday January 2 as the biggest names in the sport set about their quest to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy.

Gary Anderson is of course the two-time defending champion having beaten Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis in the last two finals but world number one Michael van Gerwen heads into the sport's flagship £1,650,000 tournament, screened live on the Sky Sports Darts channel, as hot favourite after yet another title-laden season as he aims to cement his place as darts’ number one

James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld, Peter Wright and Dave Chisnall are among the other big names in a 72-man field, which includes 16 players who will need to win one of the eight preliminary-round games to reach the final 64.

For those of you who enjoy a little bet on the darts, there are several interesting offers available from the major bookmakers. We start with sponsors, William Hill, who are offering money back as a free bet on losing match singles if there is a 170 checkout, as well as an offer of bet £10 get £20 for new customers.

For a fun bet, Coral are offering new customers odds of 33/1 on an outright win for Van Gerwen. There is a maximum steak of £1 and you get a free £5 bet if you lose.

Finally we have a couple of offers from BoyleSports, with Money back as a free bet on selected markets if your player loses to a bullseye finish and Money back as a free bet if Phil Taylor wins the 2017 PDC World Championship.
